Ericsson RBS2409 Pico Product Description

The indoor RBS 2409 Pico is the smallest RBS made by Ericsson. Based on the world-leading RBS 2000 platform and built on a single circuit board, the RBS 2409 uses Abis over Internet Protocol (IP) to reduce significantly the cost of backhaul transmission.

The RBS 2409 opens new business opportunities for operators to offer dedicated capacity, coverage, and services to small and medium-sized enterprises. It is also a good solution for filling in gaps in the macro network or for providing coverage in places where it was not previously cost-effective to do so, such as underground car parks. The integrated antenna of the RBS 2409 makes it highly suitable for use as a stand-alone RBS for covering specific parts of buildings, especially in open areas. It can also be used as a capacity or coverage supplement for Ericsson In-Building Solutions, where the RBS is used as a driver for a small Distributed Antenna System (DAS). This is an ideal way of covering and adding capacity to small office or business premises instead of using the commoner but non-apacityimproving
Radio Frequency (RF) repeater-based solution that requires supervision.

The RBS 2409 is connected to the usual operator Base Station Controller (BSC) and supports all the relevant Base Station System (BSS) features developed by Ericsson over the past 15 years. The RBS 2409 has been designed to operate silently and be very easy to install
and commission. For cooling purposes the RBS is always installed vertically, either on a wall or suspended from a ceiling.
